We've seen this story over and over again. A large corporation shows up, promises jobs and prosperity, gets special treatment, gets subsidies, gets tax breaks, and tells us it'll all be worth it.
 
Then the deal expires. The profits leave. And we're left holding the bill.
 
Now it's happening again. But this time the scam is called data centers.
 
One proposed data center is projected to consume enough electricity to nearly double demand in Delaware, and we have to pay for the upgrades. Experts estimate it could increase our electric bills by as much as 82%.
 
Think about that. A billionaire-owned corporation makes the profits. You pay the subsidy every month.
 
That's not economic development. Plain and simply, it's a giveaway to corporate tech billionaires.
 
Communities across the country are already fighting back against these projects because they've seen what happens when politicians approve them without strong protections.
 

We know exactly how this movie ends. When strong laws aren't in place ahead of time, communities are left completely exposed to the full brutality of corporate greed. That's why I'm fighting for strong regulations and why I'm sounding the alarm before it's too late.
 
On Monday, June 29th, we're gathering at Wilmington Brew Works for a fundraiser with a simple message: F*ck Data Centers.
 
Not because we're anti-technology. Because we're done subsidizing billionaire profits.
 
If you believe Delaware deserves better, come out, grab a drink, and help build the campaign that's willing to stand up and say it.
